Amazon.com Review:
This nifty organizer from SmartShopper eliminates the need to dig up a pad of paper and a pencil and try to remember what you need when you want to make a shopping list. Keep this handy device stuck to your fridge magnetically, or mount it on the kitchen wall with the included kit, and you're set to go. At breakfast when the milk runs out, simply push the Record button and say "milk." At lunch when you realize you're out of bread, push and speak again. Kids will love helping out. You can also add errands, such as going to the bank or post office. Entries are automatically alphabetized. When you push the Print button, the list is printed with errands at the top and food items by category, to make your shopping expeditions more efficient.

Easy and intuitive to use, the SmartShopper is already loaded with state-of-the-art voice recognition software, a thermal printer that doesn't require ink, and 2,500 item names, for everything from brand-name cereals to antacids to paper towels. Three rolls of thermal paper are included as well. All you need to add are four AA batteries. Arrow buttons allow you to scroll through your list, delete an item if you wish, or add a customized item to the pre-loaded list. With its brushed metal exterior, large LCD window, and front-loading door for paper, the SmartShopper makes a great gift, especially for those who may have trouble writing due to arthritis and other health conditions. --Ann Bieri

Can't live without it
I love this SmartShopper and don't want to be without it. Occasionally I have to look in the directory to get it right but it was easy to add the few things I couldn't find. My favorite thing is the way it organizes the list when it prints out. Makes my shopping so much easier and faster.
My only criticism is you can't turn it off so it goes through batteries. A rechargeable version would be nice.

Love it!!
This is the best product ever! I don't have to worry about losing my shopping list anymore. Whenever I notice I'm running low on something, I say the name of the item into my Smartshopper and it shows up on the display screen. It keeps it in memory until I am ready to shop. Then when I'm ready to shop, I hit the print button and it prints the list out in "categories." Makes shopping at the grocery store quicker and easier. The voice recognition is fantastic. The Smartshopper has almost every item you would need from the grocery store in its memory. If you have an item that is not in the memory, it is easy to add it to the library. I love it!

MY FAVORITE BIRTHDAY PRESENT!
SmartShopper SS101 Grocery List Organizer
I'd been bugging my husband about this gadget since I saw in Brookstone around Christmas time last year. Being an empirical-data-loving pragmatist(and an overall gadget skeptic), he convinced me to wait until it was on the market a little longer. Well, I did my research and read reviews and my husband surprised me with it today for my birthday. I CAN'T PUT THE THING DOWN...IT IS SOOO VERY COOL! Being a stay at home mom running a semi-gourmet kitchen and having 2 elem. school-aged kids, and a work from home hubby, I could NEVER find pen/paper at the exact time I realized I needed something. Problem solved! It has a magnetic backing (very strong, but not overwhelming so) that sticks to your fridge. If you have stainless steel, there is a notch on the back and they even include screws and an anchor for wall mounting. So now, when I'm down to my last bit or piece or whatever, I skip over to the fridge and "jot" it down. It's easy to use, although not perfect; it wouldn't recognize celery (in the library) or agave nectar(not in the library), but you can actually "add an item to the library" and use your own voice to record the word(s), thereby making it even more user-friendly. It also jots down errands: bank, wash car, dry cleaners, etc. Now my kids can get into the act too; when they're out of oatmeal, they have a fun, efficient way of letting me know. Great Purchase!!

Love It!
Love it! Love it! Love it!

I never go to the grocery store without a list and before getting this Smartshopper, I would always have to rewrite my lists to get in and out of the store faster.
This does it all for me! I can't say enough about it! If it were to ever break, I would buy another today! It has been a great time saver!

One of the best things I've ever purchased!
This is the easiest organizing tool I've ever used! Even my kids add items that are necessary - ages 9 and 11.....I'm astounded by all of the items already listed, and if I can't find one - it is Soooooo easy to add or personalize - I just wish I had a day planner that was this easy! I thought long and hard before I purchased this, thinking why spend this much money when I can get a 50 cent magnetized pad/pencil combo? It has been worth every penny and then some. You can even include errands! I wish they were a bit cheaper - I'd give them all the time as gifts! I just went back and realized that I already sent in a review! I guess I'd make it 6 stars now!

  1. Found a great alternative to the SmartShopper. I looked at buying a SmartShopper but ended up going another route. I found a program called Memic List for my smartphone. The software costs $25 and can be found by going to Microsoft, then click All Products, Windows Mobile, Your Mobile Life, Certified Software Catalog. Then search for list.

Once bought the software loaded easily to my Motorola Q9 phone. You create any list name you want like ‘Tight Jams’ for music (or just use the predefined Music List). Once you’ve created your list names you just press the Command button and the say something like ‘open grocery list’. The software opens your list. You then say ‘add item’ and when prompted say the item you want, like ‘two loaves of bread’ or ‘baking powder’. The software can tell you’ve stopped talking and adds your item inside the opened list as a sound file. It doesn’t need to be trained to work and there are only a few commands to learn, open list, add item, review items. The voice recognition worked decent for me. So for $125 less I can make lists on my phone, have them always with me, and not be limited to the items I can add.
